The strongest single predictor, measured adaptively.

A century of selection research keeps finding the same thing: general cognitive ability predicts job performance. 5Profiler measures it adaptively — shorter sittings, tighter scores, leak-resistant forms — and benchmarks it to the level your job actually demands.

Adaptive by design

Why adaptive beats fixed forms

Fixed tests waste half their items confirming the obvious. Adaptive delivery spends every item where the information is — converging on true level faster, and starving leak sites of a stable answer key.

  • Converges fast — difficulty follows the candidate — strong performers aren’t bored, nobody is buried.
  • Benchmarked to the role — a warehouse lead and a data scientist need different bars — scores interpret against yours.
  • Leak-resistant — per-candidate item paths mean yesterday’s WhatsApp screenshot doesn’t score today’s sitting.
  • Fair by monitoring — outcomes reviewed across groups; extra-time and accessibility policies built into every campaign.

What the adaptive path shows

A candidate opens with two quick correct answers; the engine steps difficulty up. A miss at the hard end, a recovery, and by item 12 the estimate has stabilised — the remaining items simply tighten the confidence interval. Eighteen items did what a fixed 50-item form does, with less fatigue and no shared key.

Before you ask

Questions we always get

Is cognitive testing fair?

It’s the most predictive instrument and the one most in need of governance — which is why scores interpret against role demands, outcomes are monitored across groups, and no candidate is auto-rejected on any single score.

How long is the sitting?

Typically under 30 minutes for the adaptive short form.

Can it be combined with other tests?

Yes — cognitive feeds the Perform answer alongside skills, behaviour and judgment; run it standalone or in the battery.
